Down South – 4 Day Cycle Adventure
If you are looking for a great little MTB escape, while enjoying some of the Overberg’s top highlights, both on and off the bike, then this is the trip you have been waiting for.
This 4-day mountainbike adventure starts in the tiny fishing village of Arniston, passing through the Southern Tip of Africa at Aghulus, before heading inland for wine tasting in the Elim region, and then finally back to the coast, stopping off in Klienbaai, the Shark capital of the world, before a final day’s scenic riding, sampling some great cheese and wines as you head towards Stanford.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Depart from Cape Town around 14:00, to arrive in Arniston in the late afternoon, where you will check in to the hotel around 16:30 (Return shuttle from Cape Town can be arranged). Depending on the tides, there will be a chance to walk down to the cave at Weanhuiskrans, or alternatively enjoy some time on the beach, before returning to the hotel for Sundowners and Dinner.
Day 2: Early morning breakfast at the hotel, enough to carry you for 1.5 to 2 hours on the bike. Head out on gravel tracks between the farms making way to Aghulas lighthouse at the Southernmost tip of Africa.
Arriving Aghulus, for a coffee and snack, before making your way through Aghulas NP on jeep and single track, rejoining the district road at Voelvlie, before the final few km ending at Black Oyster Catcher wine in time for late lunch and wine tasting, before settling in for the evening.

Day 3: After a hearty breakfast, depart by 08:00 from Black Oyster Catcher, travelling along a combination of jeep tracks and gravel roads via Wolvengat over the mountain and down to Pearly Beach, and then via the narrow roads of Kleinbaai, where the days ride will end and you check in the guesthouse in time for lunch. After a shower and freshening up, will have a choice of either Shark Cage Diving* or a late afternoon boat cruise to Dyer Island, followed by dinner at the Great White House.

Day 4: After an optional sunrise boat cruise to dyer island (own cost), followed by a light breakfast you will depart around 08:30 for the final days ride towards Stanford, via Papiesvlie and then the Klein river valley, stopping off to sample some locally produced cheese. A hot shower awaits so you can then freshen up before a celebratory lunch to end off the tour. A complimentary shuttle will be available to take you back to Arniston if you left a car there, alternatively, a return shuttle to Cape Town can be arranged.
You can also opt to spend the night in Stanford and enjoy sundowners on a private beach, or a boat cruise on the lagoon, and be shuttled back to Cape Town the following morning after breakfast (Extra night plus activities @ R795.00 pp/s)
