Western Cape & Garden Route Explorer
By combining the ultra luxury experience of our Escape the Cape tour, with the epic adventure that is the Garden Route Parks & Rec Road Trip, you get to experience Cape Town and the Table Mountain National Park’s incredible trail network, the incredible trails of the Helderberg, Stelenbosch and Franshoek valleys, where all the major players in the mountainbike industry come to test their products every year, and then finish off with a trail riding adventure along the Western Cape Garden Route, including a two-night stay in the Garden Route Game Park, for a big 5 wildlife experience. All this for only R18 625.00 Per Rider (Approx 915.00 GBP), including all accommodation on a D/B/B basis, park fees, guide fees, and transfers.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Our team will pick you up from Cape Town International Airport (or any accommodation in the greater Cape Town Area) around midday, before dropping your luggage and bikes off at your hotel, before heading out for a scenic tour of the city, followed by dinner at the V&A Waterfront – Overnight – Protea Hotel Breakwater, Cape Town
Day 2: After breakfast at the hotel, you will be shuttled along the scenic coastal, over the famous Chapmans Peak Pass, to Cape Point Lighthouse. After an hour or so to take in the views at Cape Point, its time to mount up, as you tackle a mega 78km ride through Table Mountain National Park, finishing back at the hotel in time to freshen up before enjoying a sunset cruise out of the Harbour, followed by dinner at the Waterfront. – Overnight – Protea Hotel Breakwater, Cape Town
Day 3: Early breakfast at the hotel, before a shuttle transfer to Stellenbosch, where you again mount up, and take on a 65km trail ride via the Eden, Jonkershoek and Banhoek trail networks, finishing off in Franshoek, where you will have the afternoon at leisure. – Overnight – Val’dor Estate, Franshoek
Day 4: Today is a big day, so make sure you eat your fill at breakfast. An 80km ride into the Overberg, via Mont Rochelle and the Theewaterskloof Nature Reserve, into the historic town of Greyton. – Overnight – Post House Hotel, Greyton
Day 5: Today is the last day of epic/marathon-type riding, as you head out on a slightly easier, but unbelievably rewarding ride from Greyton, via the Hemel en Aarde (Heaven on Earth) valley, down to the coastal town of Hermanus, where lunch as beers await overlooking Walker Bay, famous for its whale watching. – Overnight – Harbour House Hotel, Hermanus
Day 6: Today is a well deserved rest day, so enjoy a lazy morning at the hotel, followed by alate breakfast, before your shuttle departure, as you head to the Garden Route Game Lodge, for some rest and relaxation, before the trail park riding begins. – Overnight, Garden Route Game Park
Day 7: Full day at the garden route game park, including an early morning safari drive, with a bush breakfast buffet. You can then relax at the lodge in the afternoon, or opt for a host of optional activities, including zip lining over the ocean.
Day 8: Today its back to the bikes. After breakfast you will depart from Garden Route Game Park, to the next overnight stop, at Plettenberg Bay, where after lunch, you will be shown around the amazing trails at Cairnbrogie. Overnight – Private Beach House, Plettenberg Bay
Day 9: A full day to enjoy the trail network in the forests and hills around Plettenberg Bay, with upwards of 100km of purpose-built trial to choose from, you will have a number of local riders to show you around and get you onto the best trails. – Overnight – Private Beach House, Plettenberg Bay
Day 10: After a full day of trail riding yesterday, you can take it a little easier this morning. Breakfast will be served around 09:00, and then its time to jump in the van, and head back up the coast towards Sedgefield, taking the scenic backroads known as the seven passes route, arriving at the Garden Route Trail park in time for lunch at the clubhouse, before an epic afternoon smashing the trails, before enjoying some well-deserved beers before a short drive to your overnight stop in Wilderness. – Overnight, Wilderness Hotel, Wilderness
Day 11: This is absolutely the highlight of the trip, as we take on the first of two days of superb trails riding on the local trail networks, starting out from Ground Zero Bikepark, and under the guidance of local riders that hit these trails every day, we will make sure you find all the best that is on offer. – Overnight, Wilderness Hotel, Wilderness
Day 12: Sadly, today is the last riding day of the trip, but we have saved the best for last. For those with tired legs, there will be complimentary shuttles today to uplift you to the higher levels, as many times as you want, while smashing the best trails on the Outeniqua mountains all day. To celebrate an amazing trip, tonight we will have a bonfire, and a braai (famous South African BBQ), with all the local guys that showed you around this week. – Overnight – Private Villa, Victoria Bay
Day 13: Sadly, today the adventure ends. if you are extending your stay in South Africa, we can give you a ride to George Airport, where you can collect a rental car, or take a domestic flight elsewhere in the country. Alternatively, there is a complimentary shuttle transfer back to Cape Town International Airport, or the V&A Waterfront, arriving in Cape Town around 14:00.

Do you have any shorter options? I am going to be in South Africa in November with my family, who don’t ride, but I would love to do a 2 or 3 day trip while they keep themselves busy in with something else.
