Cape Town Cycle Tour – “semi”-Pro Experience

This is a budget friendly version of our standard CTCT Pro Experience. The services offered are identical, this option just makes use of more affordable accomodation options.

Whether the 2023 Cape Town Cycle Tour will be your first or your 21st outing around the fairest cape, why not make it that little bit more special and treat yourself to our “Pro Experience”?

Instead of rushing in for the weekend, make a cycling holiday out of it, while letting us worry about all the complicated logistics.

This 7-day all-inclusive cycling tour will allow you to taper towards the Cape Town Cycle Tour in style while enjoying the best cycling on offer in the Western Cape, combined with luxury accommodation and delicious, nutritionally sound meals, and some great off-the-bike experiences too.

The package also includes chauffeur service from airport pick up on day one to drop off on the last day, return bike transfer from all major centres*, dedicated mechanical support throughout the week leading up to the CTCT, daily sports massage, four fully supported rides tapering towards the main event, a red bus city tour and a table mountain cable car return trip and guided city tour.

Itinerary:

7 March – Pick up from Cape Town Int or accommodation within Cape Town. Transfer to Hermanus via the scenic coastal route, looking out for whales and dolphins along the route. Settle into accommodation in Hermanus. Our team will help you check over your bike and make sure it is in good condition for the week ahead. Overnight – Hermanus Backpackers , Hermanus (Meals included: Lunch/Dinner)

8 March – Early morning breakfast served at the guesthouse, before embarking on a loop through the Overberg, riding from Hermanus, up the famously picturesque Hemel & Aarde valley to Caledon, and then back to Hermanus via Stanford. Overnight –Hermanus Backpacker, Hermanus (Meals included: All)

Day 1 Ride Profile

9 March – After a bit of a more leisurely breakfast, its time to check out and load your luggage into the support van, before tackling the picturesque coastal road (R44) from Hermanus, via Kleinmond and Gordon’s Bay, into Strand, finishing the days ride off with Lunch at Triggerfish Brewery. From there, the shuttle will be waiting to take you to your next overnight stop, in Stellenbosch. Overnight – Rivierbos Guest House, Stellenbosch. (Meals Included: All)

Day 2 Route Profile

10 March – Early breakfast overlooking the estate, before taking on the last “big” ride before the main event, heading through town, then over the Helshoogte Pass, heading into the Paarl valley, and then through to Wellington, before looping back to Stellenbosch, in time to enjoy lunch on the deck of your villa overlooking the golf course. Wine tasting or 9 holes of golf can be arranged in the afternoon (at your own cost) Overnight – Rivierbos Guest House, Stellenbosch (Meals Included – All)

Day 3 Ride Profile

11 March – An early morning loop around the estate, just to loosen up the legs, before enjoying a Champaign breakfast, before packing up for the last time, for the transfer to Cape Town, to check in to your hotel in Sea Point, before going to the expo to collect your race pack and register. This package includes a complimentary red bus ticket, and you are welcome to enjoy the afternoon exploring Cape Town on the bus, before enjoying a good, high-carb dinner and getting in a good night’s rest. Overnight: Atlantic Affair Boutique Hotel, Sea Point (Meals Included: All)

12 March – Today is the big day. A race-ready breakfast spread will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby, and the short 2km ride to the start line will be a perfect warm-up, before taking on the world’s biggest cycle race. Good Luck.

After the race, our team will be on hand to collect your bike and box it up for travel, while you enjoy your post-race massage. Later on, the shuttle will take you to Grand Africa for a well-deserved post-race dinner and celebration. Overnight: Atlantic Affair Boutique Hotel, Sea Point (Meals Included: Breakfast/Dinner)

13 March – Today you can forget about the bike for a change, and spend the day taking in the best of Cape Town with a full-day guided tour of the city, including a trip up Table Mountian in the cable car, and a trip to Kalkies, for the best fish and chips in the world, before being dropped off at the airport, or accommodation of your choice within the Cape Town. (Meals Included: Breakfast/Lunch)
